SPRING IS SO LAST SEASON... AUTUMN/WINTER 2012-13 MAKE UP TRENDS

I think it’s pretty clear we have spring sorted. We know what to wear and how to do our hair, so like true fashionistas lets plan ahead. Spring is sooooo last season (well, in the fashion world). The Autumn/Winter 2012-13 catwalks saw some of the biggest make-up trends yet and it was all about the eyes! (with the occasional bold lip or brow, something for everyone!)

A/W will see the smoky eye being reinvented with, surprise surprise, colour! Roberto Cavalli’s models had the mixture of a purple, green and bronze smoky eye, whilst Burberry and Jason Wu stuck to bronze and green. If a smoky eye is too time consuming, then try out wearing a block colour on your eyelids. Fun and playful bright winged liner or mascara was sported at Anna Sui and Stella McCartney!

Too daring I hear you say? Well, don’t worry it’s not a case of going hard or going home for A/W, it’s a case of going hard or going bare! From London to New York designers kept eye make-up to a minimum, with an occasional flash of white on the lids at Giambattista Valli. The statement that got everybody talking was the lips! The conventional bold, red lip was spotted at Marc by Marc Jacobs, Rick Owens and Zac Posen shows and worn with minimal makeup to make the biggest impact!

Brows were a BIG thing on the catwalk. Bold, dark brows were sported at Vera Wang and Missoni. Of course, there’s always one to make a show of things. Chanel rocked jewelled brows, eyebrows full of jewels and sequins… (not a look I expect to catch on!)

For the rest of the face, less is more! Plain was interesting and the only colour we seen was a flush of pink on the cheeks at Micheal Kors, a lovely, rosy A/W glow.

Once again we see two extremes... Bold and bright or light and flirty. Which one will you go for?
