NEW YORK FASHION WEEK MEETS KATIE HOLMES

Apparently, the highly mediated divorce with Tom Cruise has not reduced Katie Holmes’ willpower to succeed. Indeed, the Hollywood actress has grown up from her innocent Dawson’s Creek debut to embody a protective mother and, as recently shown, a natural fashionista.

Two days ago, Holmes, dressed to impress, in a black leather jacket and bold, gold high heel shoes, presented her collection of designs for the first time, at no other than the style event of the year - New York Fashion Week. Since 2008, Holmes has been in close collaboration with her former stylist Jeanne Yang, in the creation of their label ‘Holmes & Yang’, which they have been selling in Barney’s ever since. Both appearing composed and confident, the two designers stood proudly among their models, who sat on white pillows and showed off the beautiful spring 2013 collection. The outfits modelled had a clean and sophisticated look to them, which refers back to the star’s own fashion taste.

All in all, the fashion world has been experiencing a celebrity invasion over the past several years, with big names, such as Victoria Beckham and Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen. Most definitely, the key to the success of their brands is the marketing of their personas. Nevertheless, Fashion Week makes for a fiercely competitive environment, in which talent and social aptitude is a must. Needless to say, amidst a storm of paparazzi reporting on her personal life, Holmes pulled through her show with pure elegance and natural ease. Her hard work definitely paid off.
