2016 RESORT TRENDS

Here are 10 key trends for next year to take note of:

- A latin vibe
Stella McCartney offered a lot of Latin flair this season with her Cuban styles. Blooms were also seen everywhere from Proenza Schouler to Marc Jacobs.

- Pleating
Topping the charts for feminine charm was the return of pleats, a trend which I personally am excited to see again! Delicate pleats were shown at Christopher Kane and Oscar de la Renta's Peter Copping.

- Flares
As culotte’s have been sporting the runways a lot recently, it comes as no surprise that flares are not far off for the next new trend! The cropped flare is the new thing; tight at the top and kicked out at the end, all 3/4 leg length.

- Ruffles
Think over-sized, cascading, and even in fabrics you wouldn’t imagine them in such as leather!

- The Winter coat
As far away as basic as you can think of, this season’s coat is sheer luxe with interesting graphics, amplified colours and lots of fur.

- Black and White
Previously the blue and white nautical look was the classic, but the new ‘new’ is more of a contemporary take with black and white - particularly stripes - being shown everywhere from Calvin Klein's Francisco Costa to Thakoon Panichgul.

- Blush
My new favourite colour for some time now, the Blush shade has been named “the new white” by Donatella herself. While Versace is not typically associated with pastel colours, this time round the brand had lots of the pink hue sweeping their runway.

- Rainbow colours
Why wear one shade when you can wear them all? As seen at Sonia Rykiel, Red Valentino, Tomas Maier, J.W. Anderson and  Thom Browne.

- Shoulder show-off
Sexy in a way without having to bare too much skin, the neckline of the season was off-the-shoulder a la the clean-cuts as seen at Christopher Kane or draped as seen at Givenchy's Riccardo Tisci.

- Pink
Aside from the blush shade being hot off the catwalks, surprisingly brighter shades of pink were also on there too.
